North Pointe (or sometimes stylized as North Point) is a St. Louis City neighborhood bounded by the neighborhoods of Baden, Walnut Park East, Walnut Park West and the St. Louis County municipality of Jennings. Covering a total of no more than 0.52 square miles, the neighborhood has a population of, at the time of the 2010 census, 3,966 residents. It is represented by two Aldermen sitting in the second and twenty seventh Ward.
Though not much is known in regards to the neighborhood’s growth and how it came to be the thriving area of today, like many neighborhoods within the region, North Pointe is largely a residential area but the neighborhood’s commercial district can be found within the northern boundaries near the Hall’s Ferry Circle roundabout.
Most of the neighborhood’s housing was built between 1938 and 1940 when fellow neighborhoods Baden and both Walnut Park East and West were experiencing a population boom. The housing construction is made up of one-to-two-bedroom bungalows and a small amount of large frame residences.
Residents of North Pointe are served by the St. Louis Public School District.
Located in the southern region of the neighborhood is North Pointe’s 1-acre Vivian Astra Park, a predominantly greenspace where many neighborhood homes face each other along the circle.
Noteworthy local stops within the neighborhood include the Zodiac Lounge, C&W Chop Suey and Starz Bar and Grill.
