North Riverfront is a mainly industrial neighborhood located in the northern region of the City of St. Louis. The neighborhood contains the sixth lightest population within all of St. Louis City with 937 residents at the time of the 2010 census. Covering a total of 2.77 square miles, North Riverfront is bounded by Riverview at the north, Near North Riverfront towards the south, the Mississippi River to the east and Baden, Walnut Park East and the Bellefontaine Cemetery at the west of the neighborhood. It is represented by two Aldermen sitting in the second and 21st Ward.
Unfortunately, not much is known in regards to the development and origin of North Riverfront as a neighborhood. Since it remains exclusively an industrial area, it’s home to several major construction and manufacturing institutions including Action Auto Salvage & Metal, Cardinal Steel Supply, Holcim Trading, Old Dominion Freight Line, St. Louis Composting, ABF Freight and J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc.
Due to its industrialized landscape, North Riverfront does not house any distinctive institutions or park areas within the neighborhood boundaries. However, several parks are close to the neighborhood’s limits such as O’Fallon Park, Busche Park, Hickey Park and the similarly named North Riverfront Park.
Residents living within the North Riverfront neighborhood are served by the St. Louis Public School District.
