Please join us for our first session of "Can We Talk?" series brought to you by the St. Louis REALTORS® Inclusion Advisory Group (IAG). We'll explore and discuss Standard of Practice 10-5: REALTORS® must not use harassing speech, hate speech, epithets, or slurs based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity. (Adopted and Effective 11/2020) 

Our host will be Rene' Brauner, Chair of IAG, with special guests Matt Difanis and Michelle Walker.

Walker, Michelle 2021Michelle Walker is a real estate industry leader and elected official with nearly 20 years of sales, management, training, and community service experience. She is passionate about serving others and leading with diversity and inclusion. Michelle is the Broker/Owner of STL Buy & Sell, REALTORS®, one of the Saint Louis area's largest independent real estate brokerages. She credits her success to a diversified business model, hard work, and community service. Michelle is a sought after industry instructor, and her passion is evident in her courses. Michelle will serve the National Association of REALTORS® on the 2021 Board of Directors and as the Diversity Committee Chairperson. She is a Past President of St. Charles REALTORS® and has been elected to the Francis Howell School District Board of Education since 2016. Michelle is a U.S. Navy Veteran. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Columbia College and a Master's Degree in Real Estate from REALTOR® University. Michelle and her husband, Walter III, have three great kids, Mya, Walter IV & Mason.

Matt DifanisMatt Difanis served as 2020 Chair of NAR's Professional Standards Committee, where he advanced a series of proposals that ultimately resulted in the addition of Standard of Practice 10-5 to the NAR Code of Ethics, a prohibition against REALTORS® engaging in discriminatory hate speech. Matt is 2021 Chair of the Professional Standards Interpretations and Procedures Advisory Board. He served as 2018 President of the Illinois REALTORS®. During his four years on his state leadership team, he gradually became aware of the industry's persistent shortcomings in diversity, equity, and inclusion, and he committed himself to improve it. Matt has since won numerous awards for his work on fair housing and inclusion in the industry. Matt works full-time with clients in his home market of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, where he leads a high producing team and is broker-owner of RE/MAX Realty Associates. Matt and his wife Angelle have two teenage children, Gabe and Izzy.
