St. Louis REALTORS® has developed a tool for members to help navigate the 90 governments across St. Louis City and County. Responding to our members sharing their challenges navigating a fragmented region with so many different rules to follow, we’ve created a tool collecting ordinances and organizing them by type of code, so our REALTOR® members can better guide their clients. With this information provided as a service to our members online in a single place, it is now easily accessible to aid your business.
View the most up-to-date St. Louis municipal code grid.
In 2019 we began the project of collecting these municipal codes by reaching out to each municipality to answer a questionnaire to create an organized and concise grid for REALTORS® operating in the region, as each government has its own rules respecting real estate. Out of the 90 governments we reached out to, only one-third of questionnaires were returned by the cities.
To find results for the 60 governments that didn’t respond to our multiple emails and letters, we worked with Lewis Rice to track down the remaining two-thirds of municipal codes needed. When researching, we found that some city’s ordinances weren’t online and other codes weren’t available at all, as far as we could find. Some municipalities didn’t have current contact information to even contact someone at a municipality. Even after having contacted these municipalities several times over and a team researching, we still don’t have data for the following:
- Beverly Hills
- Champ
- Country Club Hills
- Country Life Acres
- Glen Echo Park
- Hillsdale
- Norwood Court
- Wellston
We’re still tweaking a couple of items in the Municipal Survey, so please let us know what feedback you have on it.
