Located at 3137 Whittier Street, the Chuck Berry House is a three-bedroom, one-bathroom red brick cottage once owned by legendary American singer, songwriter, and guitarist Chuck Berry. At the height of his music career in the 1950s, Berry was at the forefront of rock and roll. Interested in music from a young age, Berry would perform for the first time at Sumner High School in 1941.

Kinloch: The History of Missouri’s First Black City

On August 20, 1948, the City of Kinloch was incorporated using a land purchase model whereby a realty corporation would sell parcels of land to white people at regular prices for the purpose of selling the land to Black families for more than double the purchase price because it was illegal to sell Kinloch homes to non-white individuals.
